Big 5 Construct South Africa 2026 did not disappoint, and neither did we.
As an official partner of the country’s largest built environment gathering, the highlight of PMI South Africa’s presence at Gallagher Convention Centre was a panel worth every seat in the room. Moderated by Innocentia Mahlangu, the discussion on Delivering Infrastructure Projects Successfully: Global Project Management Best Practices for South Africa brought together Sipho Nkosi, Phathiswa Fotoyi, Karin van Rooyen, and Prof Innocent Musonda: four voices from within the PMI community who know this industry from the inside. The discussion moved through the real complexity of infrastructure delivery in South Africa; what global best practices actually look like when they meet local conditions, and what the profession must continue to rise to.
And of course, our volunteers brought the energy to the exhibition, sparking genuine conversations with professionals from across the construction and infrastructure space about what project management means for the future of delivery in South Africa. Over 12,000 attendees moved through the event across three days, and by the end of it, hundreds of them connected directly with the chapter across its various portfolios!
And, spotting familiar chapter members woven through the crowd was an easter egg the event did not advertise. This is what PMI South Africa at 45 looks like. Present, engaged, and still growing! Looking forward to 8 to 10 June 2027, Gallagher Convention Centre!
