PMI Refund Policy

Refund and Cancellation Policy

This Refund and Cancellation Policy applies to all events, workshops, networking sessions, training programs, webinars, and related activities hosted or facilitated by pmi.org and/or its affiliated chapter events.

This policy is aligned with general PMI event administration practices and industry-standard professional event management guidelines.

1. General Policy

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be submitted in writing to the event organiser or designated registration contact.

Refunds, where applicable, will be processed using the original payment method.

Registration fees may include non-refundable administrative, processing, catering, venue, or third-party platform costs.

2. Event Cancellation by Attendee

2.1 In-Person Events

Refunds for in-person events will be processed as follows unless otherwise stated on the specific event registration page:

Cancellation Period                                         Refund Eligibility

30 days or more before the event:                      100% refund less applicable processing fees

8–29 days before the event:                               75% refund

3–7 days before the event:                                 50% refund

Less than 72 hours before the event:                  No refund

No refunds will be issued for non-attendance (“no-shows”).

2.2 Virtual Events and Webinars

More than 2 business days before the event       Full refund

Within 2 business days of the event                    No refund

Where recordings or downloadable materials have already been accessed, the organiser reserves the right to deny refunds.

3. Training Courses and Workshops

For instructor-led training, certification preparation courses, and workshops:

30 days or more before programme start            90% refund

8–29 days before programme start                     75% refund

Less than 7 days before programme start           No refund

Participants who begin attending a course and later withdraw may not qualify for a refund.

Digitally delivered learning products, redeemed course access, downloadable materials, exam vouchers, and on-demand learning products are non-refundable.

4. Event Cancellation or Rescheduling by the Organiser

If the organiser cancels an event, participants will receive a 100% refund of registration fees paid.

If an event is rescheduled, registered attendees may either:

transfer their registration to the new event date; or request a full refund.

The organiser is not responsible for any indirect costs incurred by attendees, including but not limited to:

  • travel expenses;
  • accommodation costs;
  • visa costs;
  • loss of income; or
  • other consequential expenses.

5. Transfer of Registration

Registrations may be transferred to another participant prior to the event, subject to approval by the organiser.

Transfer requests must:

  • be submitted in writing;
  • include the replacement attendee’s details; and
  • be received before the published transfer deadline.
  • Additional administrative charges may apply for late transfer requests.

6. Refund Request Procedure

To request a refund, participants must provide:

  • full name;
  • contact details;
  • event name;
  • event date;
  • proof of payment or order number; and
  • reason for cancellation.

Refund requests will typically be reviewed within 5–10 business days.

Approved refunds may take up to 15 business days or one to two billing cycles to reflect, depending on the financial institution.

7. Exceptions

Refunds will not be granted for:

  • failure to attend the event;
  • partial attendance;
  • dissatisfaction with speaker preference or programme content;
  • internet connectivity issues on the attendee’s side for virtual events;
  • redeemed digital products or course access;
  • promotional or discounted registrations unless required by law.

8. Force Majeure

The organiser shall not be liable for cancellations, delays, or modifications caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • natural disasters;
  • pandemics;
  • government restrictions;
  • venue closures;
  • power outages;
  • strikes; or
  • civil unrest.

Where feasible, alternative arrangements, credits, or partial refunds may be considered.

9. Policy Amendments

The organiser reserves the right to amend this Refund and Cancellation Policy at any time without prior notice. The latest published version will apply to all registrations.
