KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Ashwini Bakshi
Ashwini BakshiPMI Managing Director, Europe & Sub-Saharan Africa: I’m looking forward to speaking at the PMI South Chapter PM Summit 2021. The Covid-19 disruption has amplified social and technological issues-- diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), ESG, digital and AI technology, Pivot capabilities, and the impact especially on the next generation. The project manager journey is clearly changing and must reflect this new world. My priority is how to amplify and make accessible the new knowledge and learning for project managers and changemakers in this digital age. Talking about what has worked, what can be learnt, and what can be tried is a great way to start.

WORKSHOPS TOPICS & DESCRIPTIONS

Covid-19 Related Delay and Disruption Claims

Presenter: Mahdi Goodarzi, Gapsfree

This workshop will enable the participant to understand how to manage disruption in projects:

 (1) delays and disruption claims at the time of Force Majeure events and (2) contractual requirements adherence when delays and disruptions occur to avoid possible disputes and losing the contractual rights.

Project Communication during Times of Uncertainty.

Presenter: Taryn Bond-Barnard, Graduate School of Technology Management, University of Pretoria

One of the most important things a project leader can do during times of uncertainty is to communicate. For many, uncertainty about the future increases their fear. Therefore it is imperative that project leaders are empowered with knowledge and communication skills to successfully lead their teams during these times. This micro skills workshop will draw on current literature and insight to provide project leaders with actionable ways to improve their communication during periods of uncertainty.

Delivering Customer Value whilst navigating the Tsunami of Change

Presenter: Karin Van Rooyen, PM.Ideas

During this session you will get to understand the critical skills of a customer centric individual and how to ensure that customer value trumps business value. In the face of disruption, our customer needs and expectations will change and you need to continually meet their demands. We will focus on practical intervention techniques around the customer journey map, the questions which you need to continually ask to remain on top of your game and ensure your projects deliver the outcomes they intended to achieve.

Exploring Digital Tools to Help you Manage and Deliver Projects in the Virtual Environment

Presenter: Puleng Makhoalibe, Alchemy Inspiration

We live in times where foggy projects have become more of a reality than before. We are constantly confronted with increasing ambiguity and uncertainty related to projects. In this session, we explore digital tools that can help us manage, lead, collaborate better in the volatile times. I will be sharing from experience some of the tools we have explored and used in virtual innovation projects delivered across the globe. In the micro workshop, we will experiment with some of these tools and share experiences of what can serve us best in these unprecedented times.
