Candidate for President-Elect - Shane Cretacci

Talented, results-driven Program Manager with 23 years of Information Technology and Hospitality management experience with key emphasis on new hotel construction, infrastructure design, installation, unified communications, contact centers, video conferencing, and vendor management.

Shane’s Vision for this Position: He has enjoyed volunteering for the Phoenix Chapter but with all things, there is room for improvement. His first goal for the chapter is to fill all open positions, streamline processes, ensure that all volunteers are properly trained and have the support needed to in their position to be successful.

His second goal is to align with the chapter goal of increasing membership. This will be achieved in by supporting the other board members with their initiatives and recruiting volunteers. He will engage the other teams directly and seek out their needs and collaborate on solutions that will ensure their success.

Shane’s third goal is to support the president with special projects.


Candidate for VP of Finance - Dave Casebere

Dave has been a finance professional for more than 35 years and has held finance positions, including Chief Financial Officer, for large and small companies.  In those roles he has led many projects, local and global. Dave has an MBA, a Six Sigma Black Belt and a PMP.  For the past 9 years he has worked as a consultant to business owners and Directors of nonprofit associations to help them achieve their goals.   

Dave began volunteering for PMI in 2007 first working on two Symposiums for the chapter.   In 2014 & 2015 he was elected VP Finance for the chapter.  In 2016 and 2017 he worked for Region 7 as the Finance advisor to all 18 chapters in the region.  He then returned to the Phoenix chapter to serve a 2nd term as VP Finance in 2018 & 2019.

He has made presentations at five Region 7 Summits and three North America Leadership Institute Meetings (NA LIMs) where PMI leaders from around the world gather.  He has also published 15 articles on chapter finance, some of which PMI has shared with other chapters around the world.

Dave’s qualifications include: training and education, expertise in nonprofit accounting, experience professionally and in the role, knowledge of PMI and its policies and procedures, proven leadership skills and a commitment to the mission of PMI and the Phoenix chapter.

Every board position is critical to the success of a chapter.  The VP Finance provides the leadership and guidance that is essential to ensure that the chapter remains financially solvent and can invest in programs and services that benefit its members.  Dave’s vision is that the Phoenix chapter will continue to grow in terms of its financial strength and its ability to fulfill its mission to a growing number of members across the state.


Candidate for VP of Professional Development - Julie Bui

Julie’s passion is all about innovation in healthcare technology and serves as the IT Business Development Manager at MD24 Management with her main focus on systemizing the process for strategic growth.  This is why she is running for the VP of Professional Development of PMI Phoenix Chapter.

Julie is responsible for driving the implementation of MD24’s strategic partnerships, business procedure improvement processes, and new product initiatives. Previously, she worked with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN on a 3-year project for Medication Surveillance and implemented the Agile methodology into the SDLC. She earned her bachelor’s degree in international marketing, master’s degree in Project Management and was later certified with the Project Management Professional from PMI.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Behavioral Health Management at Arizona State University.

Julie has brought her experience in managing IT projects into the high-risk homebound healthcare market.  In her role and MD24, she improves processes through automation and defines vertical growth business opportunities.

Julie’s vision is to build the next generation of the Project Management community through partnerships with universities and businesses.


Candidate for VP of Membership - John Choate

John has over 20+ years’ experience in multiple industries as a Global PMO, Global Project Leader/Director and Site launch PM - Business and Technical. Starting his career as a top Logistics/Data Systems PM in the USAF to currently Global Senior Cloud SCM Delivery PM for SAP. His career portfolio includes site projects to global and in country (Mexico/ Mainland China) where he has supervised teams up to 1200 with full P/L responsibility.

Career includes both Union and Non-Union Shop environments. John’s core is highly regulated Industries with focus on Large, Complex and High-Risk projects.

John holds an EMBA from Pepperdine University, MS in Behavioral Psychology with Honors from Troy State and a BS in Research Biology from Washington State. He has held previous BOD positions with APICS & ISM in Silicon Valley. For the past eight years he was the National SIG Chair for PM in the SAP Users Group (ASUG) where he helped not only grow the team to global recognition but helped present training on PM skills today and in the future, from a Business, Functional, Technology and Technical perspective.

John resides in Scottsdale with his wife Vanda, and family.


Candidate for VP of Operations - Wes Giron

As a graduate of Arizona State University, Wes studied biochemistry and trained as a research chemist in pharmaceutical science. Early on, Wes didn’t know project management as a profession, but did know that he liked projects that improved activities in the lab.

Wes has earned an MBA and PMP to prepare for a career out of the lab and be more formally involved in project management and operations. Wes has volunteered with the chapter for 3 years, offering his time, but gaining so much more from the different members who mentored him.  Now, Wes wants to return that mentorship.

As a candidate for VP of Operations, Wes’ goals are:

  • To align with the chapter goal of increased transparency for its volunteer operations, Wes plans to streamline the process documentation availability to allow volunteers to accurately gauge their time commitments.
  • To align with the chapter goal of increased member retention, Wes aims to develop a successful data analytics team that can provide the board with meaningful data to guide chapter strategy and ensure we are delivering what our members want.

Improve visibility for the Chapter Election, a process he knows very well having served as the AVP of Elections for the previous two years.
